Saturday April 27
Since beginning his acupuncture studies in 1980, Stephen Birch, PhD, has practiced, taught, and written many books and articles on its history, concepts and methods, and is now Associate Professor at Kristiania University College, Department of Health Sciences in Oslo, Norway. His renowned teachers include more than a dozen Toyohari practitioners each with at least 45 years of experience. He has run programs in Amsterdam, Holland for two decades with his wife, Junko Ida, and is ‘chairperson’ of all Toyohari members outside Japan.
Sunday April 28
Honing his Sazanami Teishin Technique for 20 years, Funamizu Sensei has been instrumental in the revival of this powerful ancient non-insertion tool. He focuses on its use in treating anxiety and depression. He is head of the Acupuncture Moxibustion and Massage Department of the Tokyo Medical College, Director of the Traditional Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society, and Meridian Therapy Association board member.
Monday April 29
Mizutani Sensei graduated from the Japan Central Acupuncture College of Tokyo in 1983 and moved to Vancouver in 1992. His passion for moxibustion, the Sawada style, and traditional approaches are coupled with a no-nonsense pragmatism. He has accepted invitations to teach moxibustion around the globe and is the director and a founding member of NAJOM.
